Private Lessons

One-on-one and small-group coaching — setting up a pro, and how players request and pay for a lesson.

The short answer: players request a lesson, a coach accepts or suggests another time, and the court books itself once payment lands. To turn it on, appoint at least one staff member as a Pro and have them set their availability. There is no other switch.

What a player sees

Private lessons live in the Learn tab, under the Private Lessons segment. They pick a coach — or Any Available Coach, which sends the request to your whole pro team — then a date, an available time, and how many people are coming (1 to 4). Lessons are 60 minutes; there is no other length.

Tapping Request Lesson sends it. If your club has a liability waiver, they accept it first.

A player can have three open requests at your club at once. The fourth is refused until they respond to or cancel one.

What a coach does

Coaches work from the Lessons tab in the staff app, under Requests — split into My Requests and an Open Pool of Any-Coach requests nobody has claimed.

  • Accept — takes the lesson.

  • Suggest Time — proposes a different date and time, with an optional note.

  • Decline.

Only staff with the Pro role can claim from the Open Pool. An Any-Coach request shows $0 until a coach picks it up, because the price comes from that coach's rate.

If a coach suggests another time, the player gets one chance to accept or decline — they cannot counter back.

How the money works

Nothing is charged when the request is made.

  1. Coach accepts a paid lesson, and the player is told to confirm and pay.

  2. The player has 24 hours to pay, or until the lesson starts — whichever comes first.

  3. Payment settles, the lesson is confirmed, and the system auto-books the first free court.

Miss the window and the request expires on its own. Price is the coach's hourly rate multiplied by the number of participants, so a two-person lesson with a $90/hr coach is $180.

If your club has not finished Stripe onboarding, lessons still work — they simply confirm for free and you collect at the desk. If no court is free, the lesson still confirms and the coach is told to assign one manually.

Cancelling a lesson

  • The coach or your club cancels — full refund to the player's card, any time.

  • The player cancels 24+ hours ahead — club credit for the lesson price.

  • The player cancels inside 24 hours — forfeited, no money back.

This is not the same as a court booking, which has a middle tier at 50%. Lessons are all-or-nothing at the 24-hour mark. If club credit is switched off, player cancellations refund to card instead.

Setting it up

1. Appoint a Pro and set their rate. Club Owner → Staff → add → Add Staff. Enter their email, choose the Pro role, then set the Lesson Rate per hour and the Staff Share split. Both are required for pros, and the share applies to clinics too.

2. Each coach sets their own availability. This is the step clubs miss. Staff app → LessonsAvailability, with a weekly schedule plus date overrides for one-offs and blocked time. You cannot set a coach's availability for them.

3. Stripe. For money to move, the club needs a chargeable Stripe account.

If nothing shows up for players

A coach with no availability appears greyed out and untappable. With no pros at all, players are told the club has not set up private lessons yet — which is also how you turn lessons off, since there is no toggle.
